1 John (Trenholm) Trinham b. C1781 Windsor, Nova Scotia (1851 Census) d. C1858 Nearly 80 years, Gt. Yarmouth Norfolk (Records of birth & death not found)

m. 7-Oct-1800 Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk, England Elizabeth King (As recorded by James Samuel Trinham) b. 1-May-1777 Caister next Yarmouth, Norfolk, England d. 8-Apr-1869 Yarmouth (East Suffolk Gazette And Beccles And Bungay Weekly News 20 April 1869 Page 5, column 5) This makes her birth year between April 1775 and April 1776 if the reporting is accurate.

Note 1: John 1841 Census for Caister gives birth as ‘I’ for Ireland, but 1851 Census gives his birth as "Winsor N Alifas America" and age as 70, making the date 1781. Joined HMS in Halifax at age 14 thereby in 1795 Elizabeth: 1851 Census for Caister gives Elizabeth Trinham, Wife (of John), Married 75 B. Norfolk, Caister, Baptism is St Nicholas Great Yarmouth and is in IGI There is record of a birth with no father, Elizabeth King to Elizabeth King in Great Yarmouth 13-Apr-1797 IGI Film 7028214 (Batch) P25 Other than the name no connection is implied.

Note 2: The IGI records a John Trinham marrying Elizabeth Key at St Nicholas Church, Great Yarmouth on 7 October 1800. Be sure to read this added information in Elizabeth Key Also that of John Trunham and Elizabeth Key The marriage and ship’s crew records and events are reasonably certain, but more work needs to be done to determine the correct name of this lady (King, Key, or Hey), and only then can we confidently look for her true family.

Note 3: National Archive War Office 97 Records,

"Reference", "WO 97/770/115", Title Or Scope (This record is now accessible on line): JOHN TRUNHAM’ Born: CASTER, Norfolk Served in 63rd Foot Regiment Discharged aged about 37 due to a kick to the arm by a horse. Description: five foot eight inches tall, grey eyes, light brown hair and of florid complexion. My note: If age 37 at discharge, 1815 calculates b. C1778 +/- 2 years. Which shows 2-4 years older than 1851 Census. This is in keeping with the navy records. He possibly did not know his actual age.

Note 4: John Trennan served in HMS Hussar and HMS Veteran from 9-JUN-1796 when he was liberated from a French prison (ship) La Prevayante in the New Brunswick area and volunteered for service in the Hussar. He gave his age as 20. He transferred to the Veteran 25-Aug-1796 where he remained until records cease in 1802. He gave his home town as New Brunswick and also Halifax. (Taken from the ships muster rolls and logs at PRO Kew.)
